A Big Project

I mentioned back in October or November that my son-in-law, Chris and I were flipping a house.  Well, it is DONE and officially on the market today.
The realtor said kitchens and bathrooms sell houses, I hope they like our kitchen.  Here is the before:

I have a friend who is a cabinet maker and he was kind enough to design the layout of the kitchen and we used stock cabinets from a big box store.
Take a look

we added a bar area for stools and made it more of a galley style.

We did all the demo work, I did all the painting, Chris took care of installing the  lights and light construction.  We did have a contractor for most of the remodel work.   Will I do it again?  That is too  be determined but I know for sure, I am so proud of what we did.  The house looks amazing.
One thing I do know….. I have lots more time for sewing!

  1. Great job, it looks really good. I can tell you as the wife of an appraiser, broker that adding a second bathroom if there is only 1 and the kitchen are the two most important things that will add value. However, curb appeal is super important too as the psychologists believe that home buyers have made up their mind before they even enter the house. Best wishes with your flipping, you certainly hit the market at the right time.

  3. That's an impressive kitchen. All the best with selling your house. Getting a house with a great kitchen like that is a big plus for any home buyer.

  5. Oh, you did a nice job! What a difference! I hope you get a good profit from it. It is a lot of work, but making something dismal into something nice to live with is so satisfying. I hope you find a buyer for it quickly. :)

  13. Very nice. I hope it sells quickly. I haven't done a flip in over six years now, but I love the process and made a nice living at it. Sometimes I compare renovating (a term I like better than "flipping") to picking up a sad little pooch from the pound and turning it into a well groomed, well behaved little sweetheart. These homes just need some lovin'!
